If you‘ve been dreaming of trying surfing for a long time, congratulations, you‘ve come to the right place! The beaches of Sri Lanka are famous for their comfortable waves and conditions for beginners. Local lineups (the point in the ocean where all surfers sit waiting for a wave) can still boast of non-congestion, unlike other popular surf destinations, such as Bali Island. Sri Lanka is washed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, you can ride here without a wetsuit all year round! Surfing is called the sport of kings, it came to us from Hawaii and in recent years has been developing and falling in love with an increasing number of people. But let’s not delve into the history and theory of surfing now, for this there is our instructor Dmitry, whom we call a walking surf encyclopedia. He is happy and inspired to tell all his students everything he knows about surfing, and he knows a lot. We also regularly hold surf film screenings and public talks (lectures), which are open to everyone. But, of course, the main action takes place in the ocean. You can sign up for both individual and group lessons, and after mandatory safety and surf etiquette briefings, you will set off to conquer your first waves. Our surf school employs professional surf instructors who have a wealth of experience and knowledge in the field of surfing. They will patiently and kindly guide you through the entire learning process, helping you master the right technique and learn how to catch waves. Our instructors are highly professional and have a deep understanding of various aspects of surfing, so you can be sure of the quality of the training. Where will the classes be held? Sri Lanka offers many spots where you can surf. The island is rich in a variety of beaches suitable for both beginners and experienced surfers. We spend our first lessons on sandy beaches with small waves, make sure to check the forecast beforehand, look at the ocean live, and never put our students at risk. By the way, Dmitry will also tell you how to use the surf forecast in applications and how to read the ocean, so that later you can independently assess the conditions suitable for skiing anywhere in the world! After you learn how to take waves on your own, make turns and perform simple instructor tasks, you can optionally go to reef spots. There are more waves there, but there are always fewer people. And also very beautiful clear water and fish and turtles swimming around – you will definitely like it. We conduct classes at all the main spots of the South Coast: from Mirissa to Kabalana, and also do one-day surf trips to Hirikitiya.
We will arrange a transfer to any spot where the lesson is held, provide boards, lycra, zinc, sunscreen and everything necessary for the lesson. Sri Lanka offers a variety of surfing conditions, ranging from soft waves ideal for beginner surfers to more powerful ones that are suitable only for experienced athletes, which is why we also provide spot guiding service for advanced and continuing surfers.
Once you have tried surfing, you will plan all your next vacations based on the presence of the ocean and waves in the country. But believe me, it‘s worth it!
